Maintaining an active Listing Distribution subscription, such as the one offered by EZlocal Dash, is critical for sustaining accurate business listings and optimizing local SEO performance over time. Even after correcting business information across directories, inaccuracies can reemerge due to user-generated content, outdated public records, or conflicting data from sources like yellow pages, white pages, or phone company records. These discrepancies can erode your online visibility and rankings, making continuous management essential.

Subscribers vs. Non-Subscribers: The Data

Over a 12-month period, businesses with an active Listing Distribution subscription achieve an average listing accuracy of 60%, compared to just 10% for non-subscribers, according to internal analytics. This stark contrast highlights the importance of ongoing data management to prevent reversion to obsolete or incorrect information, which can harm local search rankings.

Key Benefits of Continuous Listing Distribution

  • Weekly Data Updates for Consistency: By maintaining an active subscription, your business information is submitted weekly to major data aggregators, ensuring alignment with what you deem accurate. Canceling the service risks reverting to outdated sources, undermining your local SEO efforts.
  • Search Engine Trust Through Consistency: Search engines like Google prioritize consistent business data (e.g., name, address, phone number) across the web when determining rankings. Inconsistent listings due to deactivation can weaken your “data accuracy” factor, lowering visibility.
  • Ongoing Citation Building: Listing Distribution fosters a “Citation Effect,” where consistent data across multiple reputable sources enhances Google’s confidence in your business information. This also generates high-quality backlinks, boosting SEO performance. Over time, as new publishers adopt this data, your online authority grows.
  • Long-Term Data Management as a Strategy: Managing listings is not a one-time fix but a continuous process, akin to a daily vitamin. Sustained efforts ensure data sources trust and prioritize your provided information, reinforcing local search dominance.

Risks of Discontinuing Listing Distribution

Canceling your subscription leaves your listings vulnerable to changes by data providers, potentially resulting in hundreds of inaccurate citations. This can confuse search engines, dilute your online presence, and negatively impact rankings. In contrast, an active Listing Distribution subscription acts as an insurance policy, proactively safeguarding your business’s digital footprint.

Proactive vs. Reactive Strategy

By keeping Listing Distribution active, businesses adopt a proactive approach to local SEO, ensuring consistent, accurate data across platforms. This strategy aligns with industry best practices, with studies showing that businesses with ongoing listing management can improve local search visibility by up to 35% compared to those relying on sporadic updates. For optimal results, treat Listing Distribution as a long-term investment in your brand’s credibility and search performance.

Hyperlink Icon

When you cancel your Listing Sync subscription with EZlocal Dash, the platform ceases to syndicate your business information to publishers and data aggregators, halting active management of your listings. EZlocal Dash does not revert listings or push outdated data; however, without ongoing API-driven updates from EZlocal Dash or a similar service, your listing data may gradually become inconsistent. Publishers, relying on alternative sources like third-party aggregators and user-generated content, may update listings at varying rates, leading to discrepancies across platforms. Local SEO research indicates that unmaintained listings can see accuracy decline by 20-30% within months, impacting search visibility.

In the absence of continuous management, publishers attempt to keep listings current using a mix of non-direct data sources, which often introduces errors. There is no permanent, one-time solution for maintaining accurate listings, as Listing Distribution is an ongoing process critical for sustaining a robust online presence. With an active EZlocal Dash subscription, your business data is refreshed weekly across data aggregators, ensuring consistency and maximizing listing reach. However, upon cancellation, the absence of these updates risks erosion of your established digital footprint, as user-generated content or inaccurate third-party data may overwrite correct information over time. To maintain optimal local search performance, prolonged activation of Listing Distribution is essential for reinforcing and expanding your business’s web presence.

EZlocal Dash Premium with Listing Distribution, a cornerstone of local SEO, is an ongoing process designed to establish and sustain your business’s web presence. Upon entering your business information, it is immediately submitted to three major data aggregators—Data Axle, Foursquare, and Neustar (Localeze). These aggregators distribute your data to hundreds of online directories, search engines, mobile apps, and other platforms. However, downstream sources query aggregators at varying intervals (e.g., weekly, monthly), leading to diverse timelines for full data propagation. Typically, aggregators confirm data accuracy within 6-8 weeks, but complete adoption by all sources may take longer, depending on their update cycles. To maximize reach and consistency, Listing Distribution is offered as an annual subscription, ensuring continuous data synchronization for optimal local SEO performance.

Why Is Listing Distribution a Long-Term Commitment?

Maintaining accurate Name, Address, and Phone Number (NAP) data across the web is critical, as inconsistencies can erode local search rankings by up to 25%, per industry studies. Listing Distribution acts as an insurance policy, safeguarding your online presence by regularly refreshing data with aggregators. Discontinuing the service poses significant risks, as unmaintained listings become vulnerable to user-generated errors or outdated information, potentially resulting in hundreds of incorrect citations that harm SEO and customer trust. The annual subscription model supports sustained visibility, ensuring your business remains authoritative in local search ecosystems.

How Can Businesses Accelerate Key Listing Updates?

For time-sensitive updates on high-priority platforms like search engines (e.g., Google, Bing) or social sites, manual updates are recommended alongside Listing Distribution. Search engines often require validation processes, which can delay listing creation or modifications. By proactively managing these major listings, businesses can achieve faster visibility on critical platforms while Listing Distribution builds broader coverage in the background.

Why Is Continuous Listing Distribution Essential for Local SEO?

Listing Distribution’s ongoing submissions to data aggregators create a robust network of consistent citations, boosting search engine confidence and generating high-quality backlinks. This strengthens your Google Maps and organic search rankings, with data-driven strategies shown to enhance local visibility by 20-30%. By maintaining an active subscription, businesses mitigate the risk of data decay, ensuring long-term SEO success in competitive local markets.

What is Listing Distribution and How Does It Work?

EZlocal Dash Listing Distribution is a powerful local SEO tool that syndicates your business information to major data aggregators, including Data Axle (Infogroup), Foursquare, Dataprovider.com, and Neustar (Localeze). These aggregators serve as trusted sources for hundreds of platforms, including search engines, navigation systems, voice assistants like Apple’s Siri, mobile apps, and even offline resources such as telephone directories and government records. By ensuring consistent and accurate business data across these networks, Listing Distribution enhances your online visibility and strengthens your local SEO performance. According to recent SEO studies, consistent business listings across authoritative sources can improve local search rankings by up to 35%, as search engines like Google gain confidence in validated data, and high-quality backlinks are generated to your website.

What Are Data Aggregators?

Data aggregators are centralized hubs that collect, verify, and distribute consumer and business data to a vast ecosystem of listing directories, review platforms, search engines, and advanced applications like personal navigation systems and voice search technologies. These aggregators are critical for ensuring your business information is accurate and widely accessible, powering modern digital tools and enhancing your discoverability in hyper-local search queries.

How Often Can I Update My Business Profile?

With an active EZlocal Dash Listing Distribution subscription, you can modify your business profile as frequently as needed without any restrictions. This flexibility ensures your business information remains current, reflecting changes such as new contact details, hours, or services, which is vital for maintaining local SEO relevance and user trust.

How Frequently Are Listings Submitted to Data Aggregators?

When you create or update a listing in the EZlocal Dash system, the information is transmitted to data aggregators within 24 hours. Aggregators typically confirm receipt and integration within 6-8 weeks. To maintain data accuracy, your listing is automatically resubmitted weekly, ensuring aggregators always have the most up-to-date version of your business information. This consistent refresh cycle aligns with SEO best practices, as fresh and accurate data is critical for sustaining high local search rankings.

How Does Listing Distribution Handle Duplicate Listings?

EZlocal Dash Listing Distribution submits your business data to aggregators, which employ their own robust processes to identify and eliminate duplicate listings. This ensures a single, accurate representation of your business across platforms, reducing confusion for users and search engines while bolstering your SEO credibility.

What Is the Timeline for Listing Distribution?

Once your business information is entered, EZlocal Dash immediately pushes it to data aggregators, with integration typically taking 6-8 weeks to reflect in their databases. The timeline for downstream platforms—like directories, review sites, or search engines—to update their records varies, as they query aggregators at different intervals (weekly, monthly, etc.). This variability underscores the importance of ongoing distribution to maintain consistent visibility across the digital ecosystem.

Why Is Listing Distribution a Monthly Subscription?

Listing Distribution is an ongoing process designed to build and sustain your online presence. A monthly subscription ensures continuous data refreshes to aggregators, countering potential erosion from user-generated content or outdated information. This consistent upkeep maximizes the reach and accuracy of your listings, as platforms reference aggregators at varying frequencies. Without regular updates, incorrect data could undermine your established SEO value, making the subscription model essential for long-term local search success.

Where Do Online Listings Originate?

Online business listings are sourced from a diverse array of channels, including business owner submissions, government records, user-generated content (UGC), Google sources (e.g., MapMaker, Places), and, most critically in the U.S., major data aggregators. These aggregators are weighted heavily by search engines due to their verified and authoritative nature, making them a cornerstone of effective local SEO strategies. By leveraging EZlocal Dash Listing Distribution, businesses can ensure their data is prioritized across these influential sources, enhancing visibility and trust in local search results.

We will be adding multi-location account management soon! For now, the only way to manage multiple locations is to create a unique account (unique email) for each location. You must also purchase an individual subscription for each location you wish to manage through Listing Sync.

If listings are already claimed, Listing Distribution will typically not update these claimed sources, such as Google. However, some claimed sources, such as Bing, may update their data if a sufficient number of other data sources have the same information that differs from your claimed listing. If you have already claimed sources, don’t worry — Listing Distribution will not change the way you claim or verify sources.

Hyperlink Icon

Yes. You will be required to enter a business address for verification purposes and so that we can determine the service area.

Your address should reflect your actual, real-world location. Completing the Street Address field is required. Use an accurate address and service area for your business location. Virtual offices and PO boxes are generally not considered real-world addresses and you should avoid using them to create local business listings.

You can then select the ‘Service Area Business (hide address from public view)’ checkbox. With this option selected your business address won’t be sent from us to directories within our Listing Syndication Network. However, please keep in mind that this option changes the directories that we support for your business location. Data Aggregators like Data Axle, Localeze, and Foursquare require a verifiable address.

In the Listing Sync dashboard, certain listings may be marked as 'show address to get listed' if your business is a Service Area Business (SAB).

Disabling the SAB functionality in the business profile will allow Listing Sync and/or Listing Distribution to submit your business information to the various data aggregators/sources for updates.

If a directory already has a business address for your SAB location, it won’t be removed by selecting the ‘hide address’ option. You will need to reach out to the publisher directly to have your address removed or hidden from public view.

Note: The general rule of thumb for many directories (e.g., Google Business Profile, Bing, Yahoo, etc.) is that you need a physical address. Not all listing sources support P.O. Boxes or virtual addresses.

NAP consistency refers to the practice of ensuring that your business's Name, Address, Phone number, and Website (NAP+W) are listed consistently across all online platforms where your business might appear. Here's a breakdown of what this involves and why it's important:

What is NAP?

  • Name: The legal or trading name of your business.
  • Address: The physical location of your business.
  • Phone: The contact number for your business.

Why is NAP Consistency Important?

  1. Search Engine Trust: Search engines like Google use NAP information to verify the authenticity and location of a business. When your NAP details match across various sites, it tells search engines that your business is legitimate and where it is located, which can positively influence local search rankings.
  2. Local SEO: Consistent NAP data is a key component of local SEO. It helps in getting your business listed in local search results and on maps, increasing your visibility to local customers.
  3. User Experience: Consistency in NAP information ensures that potential customers can easily find and contact your business without confusion over multiple listings or conflicting data.
  4. Brand Reputation: Inconsistent NAP can confuse customers, leading to a potential loss of trust or missed business opportunities. It might make your business appear less professional or even suspect.

How to Ensure NAP Consistency:

  • Audit Your Listings: Use tools like EZlocal Dash to check your business's NAP across various platforms including Google, Bing, Yelp, Yellow Pages, and local directories.
  • Standardize Your Information:
    • Name: Decide on one official name for your business and use it everywhere. If you have a "doing business as" (DBA) name, stick to that.
    • Address: Use the same format for your address. Include suite numbers, street abbreviations consistently (St. vs. Street), etc.
    • Phone Number: Choose one phone number to be listed (preferably a local number for local SEO) and ensure it's formatted consistently (e.g., (123) 456-7890 vs. 123-456-7890).
  • Update Information: If your business information changes (like moving to a new location or changing phone numbers), update it everywhere simultaneously to avoid discrepancies.
  • Claim and Manage Listings: Claim your business on major platforms to control your NAP data. Use services like Google Business Profile, Bing Places for Business, EZlocal, etc., to manage your information.
  • Monitor and Correct: Regularly check for inaccuracies or outdated information. Set up alerts or use management software to keep track of your listings.
  • Use Schema Markup: On your website, use local business schema markup to explicitly define your NAP, which helps search engines understand and index your business's information more accurately.

Common Issues:

  • Variation in Business Names: Using different variations of your business name or abbreviations inconsistently.
  • Address Mistakes: Small errors like missing suite numbers, incorrect zip codes, or different address formats.
  • Phone Number Variations: Using different formats or listing multiple numbers without clarity on which is primary.

By maintaining NAP consistency, businesses can improve their local SEO performance, enhance customer trust, and ensure that their online presence accurately reflects their real-world location and contact details.

Voice Search Apps

Get found in voice search and AI queries by submitting your relevant business details to voice search apps and voice search data providers. Each voice search app requires structured information related to your business. Voice Search Optimizer is included with your EZlocal Listing Sync Premium subscription. With Voice Search Optimizer, your business information is sent to all of the leading voice search assistants - Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, and Microsoft Cortana.

Manually claim your Apple Maps listing to seed Apple Siri. Verify and optimize your Google Business Profile to seed Google Assistant. Make sure your Google Business Profile Q&A feature is enabled. Amazon Alexa and Bixby rely on business information primarily from Foursqaure (primary source) and Yelp (secondary source).

Website Q&A for Voice Search Results

Data for voice search results are also sourced from FAQs provided on business websites.

Voice search technology relies on natural language processing, which means that it is more likely to understand and respond to conversational queries. By including a voice search optimized Q&A section on your website and online busines profiles, you are providing relevant information in a conversational and structured format that can be easily parsed by search engines powered by voice search queries.

A Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) page contains a list of questions and answers pertaining to a particular topic and should reflect frequently searched questions related to your business and location. Properly marked up, FAQ pages may be eligible to have a rich result on search and an action on the voice assistants, which can help your site reach the right user.

To optimize for voice search, your website information needs to be dialogue-friendly. Answer commonly asked questions related to your product. Use specific keywords that a potential customer would use when they're ready to purchase. Users tend to use long-tail keywords in voice search.

Website Integration

Use the EZlocal Voice Search FAQ builder to generate HTML code for multiple Voice Search FAQs for your business website. The HTML code generated allows you to embed the discoverable FAQs into your webpage.

From your business dashboard, go to Profile > Q&A:

Once you complete the Q&A, copy and paste the generated code onto the HTML webpage of your business website where you want the FAQ's to appear. Schema markup is a type of structured data — essentially, it’s code you add to your website’s HTML that helps Google and other search engines provide more detailed results.

What Are Data Aggregators?

Data aggregators, such as Data Axle (Infogroup), Foursquare, Dataprovider.com, and Neustar (Localeze), are specialized platforms that collect, verify, and distribute business and consumer data to a vast network of digital ecosystems. These include online directories, search engines, review platforms, mobile apps, voice assistants (e.g., Apple's Siri), navigation systems, and even offline resources like telephone directories and government records. By centralizing accurate business information, aggregators ensure consistency across hundreds of sources, a cornerstone of effective local SEO strategies. With EZlocal Dash's Listing Sync Premium, your business data is seamlessly submitted to these major aggregators, amplifying your online visibility.

Why Are Data Aggregators Important for Local SEO?

Consistent business data across multiple platforms drives two key outcomes for local SEO success:

  • Enhanced Search Engine Trust: Search engine crawlers, such as Google's WebCrawler, validate business information by cross-referencing multiple sources. Consistent data from aggregators boosts confidence scores, improving rankings on Google Maps and organic search results.
  • Improved Backlink Authority: Accurate listings create high-quality backlinks from reputable sources, strengthening your website's domain authority and elevating SEO performance. Industry insights suggest that businesses leveraging data aggregators can see a 20-30% uplift in local search rankings due to enhanced data consistency.

How Does Dash Premium Work with Data Aggregators?

  • Frequent Updates: Upon creating or modifying a listing in EZlocal Dash, your business data is transmitted to aggregators within 24 hours. Weekly resubmissions ensure aggregators maintain the most current and accurate information, mitigating data decay from user-generated content or errors.
  • Duplicate Listing Resolution: Dash Premium (Listing Sync Premium) submits corrected data to aggregators, which employ proprietary processes to identify and eliminate duplicate listings, streamlining your online presence.
  • Timeline for Results: After submission, aggregators typically confirm data accuracy within 6-8 weeks. Downstream sources (e.g., directories, apps) query aggregators at varying intervals—weekly, monthly, or longer—meaning full propagation timelines depend on each source’s update cycle.

How Often Can I Update My Business Profile?

With an active Dash Premium subscription, you can modify your business profile unlimited times. This flexibility ensures your Name, Address, and Phone Number (NAP) data, along with other details, remain accurate and aligned with your branding.

Why Is Listing Sync Premium a Monthly Subscription?

Local SEO is an ongoing process, as listings can degrade over time due to user-generated content, outdated records, or algorithmic shifts. Dash Premium’s weekly data resubmissions to aggregators maintain and expand your web presence, ensuring long-term accuracy and maximizing listing distribution. Continuous engagement is critical, as studies show that inconsistent NAP data can reduce local search visibility by up to 25%. The subscription model supports sustained SEO value, protecting your established online authority.

Where Do Online Listings Originate?

Online directories draw business data from diverse sources, including:

  • Direct submissions by business owners
  • Government databases
  • User-generated content (UGC)
  • Google sources (e.g., MapMaker, Google Places)
  • Major data aggregators (the most authoritative in the U.S.)

By prioritizing submissions to top-tier aggregators, Dash Premium (Listing Sync Premium) ensures your business data is weighted heavily by search engines and directories, optimizing your local SEO footprint for maximum reach and impact.

Listing Sync is the only listing product that we are able to share a list of the number of sites syncing to (30+ sources). Listing Sync is more of an "instant" solution with direct results on those listing sources displayed in the dashboard.

Listing Distribution, which is included with Listing Sync Premium subscriptions, is meant to be the ultimate citation builder, however we do not have access to up-to-date lists or the exact number of sources Listing Distribution can reach for any particular business vertical. This is because: 1) the data providers are constantly growing and changing their reach and we are only connecting directly with them, and 2) the data drovider sources are proprietary information belonging to each data provider.

We submit weekly to the major data providers ("Data Aggregators") who provide business information to 300+ directories. It's up to each directory whether or not to publish listings. Some directories are limited to certain types of business verticals (e.g., Judy's Book, Healthgrades, ZocDoc, Avvo, UrbanSpoon, etc.).
